Large government-owned investment funds, sovereign wealth funds (SWF) manage more than $4 trillion in assets globally. Largely viewed as passive funds, some SWFs are taking more active roles in their investments. Add to this their size, the lack of transparency for many of them and the risk of potential political influence on the management of their assets. So what's an IRO to do if approached by a SWF? Lou Cordone has been in the IR consulting industry for over a decade. He started as a junior account executive at Morrow & Co., working on several DJIA participants and Fortune 100 accounts. After Morrow, he joined Dewe Rogerson and concentrated on large multi-national and foreign clients, including clients in Europe and Emerging Markets. Before joining Thomson Reuters, he worked at Georgeson Shareholder, where he focused on specialty reports, including Regulatory Reports. Currently, Lou is an Advisory Services Senior Director for Thomson Reuters. He focuses on special situations, providing consultation and support for clients who are addressed with domestic and international issues outside their normal course business.
